SURF’S UP!
Calling all surf-lovers! Chicagoans no longer have to trek to the ocean and risk being eaten by a shark to catch a wave next year when Chicago Surf, an outdoor surf park and lakefront restaurant, opens at Montrose Beach in summer 2015. With a glistening Lake Michigan as the backdrop, Chicago Surf will feature a 16’ SurfStream® by American Wave Machines. Known as the world’s leading innovator in wave technology and surf machine development, the SurfStream® will provide guests with a full service surf experience in the heart of the Windy City. Open just in time for the summer season, water lovers, thrill-seekers and fitness enthusiasts of all ages, can hang 10 in the heart of the Windy City.
Chicago Surf will also include a beachside café and large patio seating, offering a front row seat to the surfing action while enjoying menu items such as fresh salads, wraps, sandwiches, fish tacos and more, complemented by your favorite cold beverage of choice.
A portion of the patio will be covered featuring flat-screen televisions allowing sports fans to cheer on their favorite teams – or catch major surfing competitions streaming live from Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand and California. Guests will also come to enjoy events and unique programming with surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding pros as special guests, music, volleyball tournaments and more. Food enthusiasts will revel in the future of festive pig roasts, BBQs, lobster boils and chef pop-ups. Chicago Surf will serve as an ideal venue for spirited birthday parties, day camps, surf leagues, corporate events, weddings or any summer celebration. With a specialty retail store featuring themed t-shirts, hats, sunglasses, towels and more, Chicago Surf is a beach-goers’ one – stop shop for summer
Created by Chicago native K.C. Hoos, Chicago Surf is the first and only concept of its kind in the city. Himself a surfer, Hoos wanted to offer surf enthusiasts and adventure seekers an out of the box way to enjoy the city and Chicago’s beautiful lakefront during the city’s precious warm weather season.
